Your annual insurance review: a structured policy checklist

Review premiums, benefits, deadlines and changes in your life. A practical checklist for a personal insurance review in Switzerland.

Prämienheld editorial team · · 3 min read
At a glance

Start an insurance review with changes in your life, then examine benefits, premiums and deadlines. An overview of existing policies helps identify questions and possible overlap worth checking.

What has changed since your last review?

Record a move, new household members, family changes, a different vehicle or a change at work. Major purchases and future plans may also raise new questions. The list does not need to be perfect; it should give the conversation a clear starting point.

Give each policy a single line

Record the insurance area, provider, premium, main benefits, excess and deadlines. Add the question you want answered beside each entry. This prevents a price comparison from obscuring significant differences in cover.

CostsPremium, excess and additional costs

Discuss possible overlap precisely

If two contracts sound similar, ask which risks and people they actually cover. Apparent overlap is a reason to investigate, not an automatic reason to cancel. Record what would disappear or be added after a change.

Finish with a short decision list

Sort the outcome into three groups: keep unchanged, clarify questions and compare quotations. For each open point, record the next step and contact person. The result is a usable plan rather than a collection of documents.

About this guide

Prepared by the Prämienheld editorial team as general orientation. An individual offer and the applicable policy conditions determine actual cover.

This organisational checklist is Prämienheld’s editorial framework for preparing a review; it does not make claims about a particular insurer’s benefits.

Do I have to switch after a review?

No. Keeping existing contracts unchanged can be a sensible outcome.
